Zonatas are legal to own and even take out of the wild, but I wouldn't recommend it as there should be plenty of CBB available.

The limit for each of the species listed below is two, unless otherwise provided. Limit, as used in this section, means daily bag and possession limit. I'm not sure where they might be available right now, but you can try Shannon from High Sierra Reptiles and if she doesn't have any available, I'm sure she could point you in the right direction.
Finally... musking. All snakes have musk glands located by their cloaca and primarily use them as a defense mechanism when they feel threatened. It's nothing to be concerned about, but it can be rather stinky and messy. Kingsnakes and Milksnakes tend to do it frequently when they are young, but they quickly grow out of it.![]()
