The whole Hollywood weight issue
So I've always had a serious problem with Hollywood and everyone going for the glamorous Ethiopian look. However the whole Tyra Banks thing I think sorta pushed me over the edge of how superficial people are. The photos of her on the beach I'd never consider her fat in a million years. Yet people forget a few factors. Number one is that woman have curves and always will have curves. Number two is that not all women are built alike. Tyra is 5'10 and she isn't gonna get down to 100 pounds and a size 0. Why? See example number one Number three is that people want others acceptance of visual perfection. Why? Everyone has their own views of what beautiful is. Number 4 THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PERFECTION.
I'd love to see a painter make a nude paintings of stars who are super skinny and those who are of normal weight and figure. If you asked people just from visual sight what their rendition of the painting means I bet you'd get a lot of "Well, looks like the people who look healthy are standing next to the sickly and dying." Being healthy is great and nothing wrong with that. Yet when you get to a point to where you listen to what others want, you lose track of ones goals. Why deprieve yourself of enjoying what you enjoy in moderation?
I'm not pointing fingers and saying all guys are guilty but most I know are pretty damn hard on women and their weight. For example we have a hair salon right next door to my work and the owner sorta digs the manager at my work. So when he found out I dunno if it was from any bad past relationships but he went off about her body. "Oh she's fat, he hips are too wide and her butt is too big.." I turned to him and said "Are you kidding?" Seriously she's got an amazing hour-glass body and so he kept going on and on. So, me being me I went with what he said to set him up. I said "Yeah man, her butt is sorta big ... Might get in the way of your gut huh?" He looked at me like I hurt his feelings. I said "Sorry dude, cause of guys like you who tear chicks apart, you're part of the cause of why many women tear themselves apart over lil comments like that."
I can't tell you what you've already heard already from others but be a leader, not a follower. The followers will never be leaders cause they have no spine and no opinion for themself.

Re: The whole Hollywood weight issue
It is really sad that the female "ideal" of Hollywood is that girls should be stick figures. To me, people of boths sexes should care for their bodies and cut out all of the junk they eat and drink to be a healthy weight. Being under, or over, weight is not hot to me.

Re: The whole Hollywood weight issue
The sad part is that she may have been a super model, she may now be a celebrity talk show host but good lord this is still a person with feelings and her body size is her own decision. People are just plain rude whether it's about her weight gain, somebody else's whatever.....who in the world said any of us had a right to be commenting on and judging another person for some stupid superficial thing that in the end is none of our business!
You don't like how Tyra looks, who said you had to look. You don't like how someone else looks, the color of their skin, their whatever...well nobody's making you look or gave you the right to comment. Usually someone's over-inflated view of how important they think they themselves are (or they are just bored, cruel and ignorant) is behind that sort of rudeness.
Glad you see more than most Mike. We live in a world of plenty where a lot of young girls regularily starve and purge themselves to reach "ideal" looks that are mostly a result of extremely poor diet and a heck of a lot of airbrushing. As the mother of two teenage daughters I flat out hate the message society imposes on females.
If Tyra wants to eat a salad or a banana split well good for her. She's worked hard, she played their stupid game by their rules and made some serious cash on that runway. I hope she's laughing her way to the bank at whatever weight she currently is

Re: The whole Hollywood weight issue
I've been overweight since about the age of 9. And I've been unhealthy all of my teenage and adult life until recently. I don't disagree with some of your points--I like curvy, too (and this could be a bias, since I'm shaped hourglassy), but I think that being in shape and being healthy is also awesome.
For the first time in my life, I'm very nearly at the upper end of "healthy" for my height/weight range. 5 pounds will put me there. I've spent the last year overhauling my life and trying to get more physically active and eat healthier. I'm going to continue getting in shape until I'm comfortable with where I am...I don't want to be skinny, I like having some curves--but I also want to feel fit, happy and healthy. I've taken the worst foods out of my diet, and replaced them with healthy alternatives--but I never deny myself a moderately portioned treat if I want one
As for the Tyra thing...she really annoys me.
