Question Question on shipping out of the USA

I would like to know how breeders are able to ship reptiles out of the USA.How long does it take for a reptile to arrive in (say the UK) for example? I am not wanting to ship, just wondering how it gets done. Thanks

You need a license from US fish and wildlife to export and import, If cities paper work is needed that can take 4 - 6 months .

The UK is pretty quick ... 7 hours maybe ... I get direct flights out of BWI to Hethrow ... I'v shipped to Hong Kong a couple of times and those flights are crazy ... 36 - 48 hours ... 5 or 6 lay overs ... sweating bullets the whole time.

I'm shipping to Malaysia in a couple of months, that one is going to be fun.

Man, I dont know how you do it, must be nerves of steel LOL I shipped a snake out to B.C. this summer, it took 29 hours total, with an overnight stop in Toronto....I felt sick the entire time, until I got word it had arrived OK I hope that lessens with experience, though I doubt it will in my case LOL

The first time I shipped to Hong Kong I was a mess ... I think I cried on the shoulders of more than a few people here on the site ... it was my longest international ever and even the inspectors at the Fish and Wildlife office were like "you sure about this" ... big bucks too ... ugghhhh ... then I got the call that they were all perfect and my customer was tickled pink with everything and I felt a lot better ... after that, I was ready for anything!! ... Besides, I love knowning that 8 Ball t-shirts are being worn in 9 different countries at this point ... and the list will grow this summer for sure!!

29 hours? man you could drive it there in that time. i suggest finding a more direct flight in the future... if not for the snake, but for the grey hairs it will save you

Aleesha, not possible.....London Airport will not ship cargo direct to Vancouver.. Toronto Airport will not ship direct to Castlegar (which is where the shipment was going) ..so what had to happen is...Take snake to London Airport at 1 pm, Depart from london at 3pm (snake has to be on the plane 2 hours before departure time) arrive in Toronto later in the day, sit in Toronto until the 4:30am flight to Vancouver, arrive in vancouver later in the day...Sit and wait until the next available flight from Vancouver to piddly little Castlegar, top that off with the unexpected 3 hour delay that occured, plus the fact that the recipient lives 2 hours away from the airport, and thats how you get 29 hours

Setting up flights, and the way flights are routed when dealing with cargo, is the extreme opposite of passenger flights you should try it sometime, it's a real treat LOL I really do wish it was as simple as setting up up a direct flight from A to B, but when you're dealing with cargo, it just aint so
