feeding question

Hi all,
Charlie took his second feed for me last night and everything went hunky dory , no wood eaten, took fuzzy at 3rd attempt and devoured it in about 3 mins ... but my question is when he had eaten it he spent the next 8-10 mins looking about the substrate burying his nose in the wood chips , is this looking for more food or because I had his warm-side hide removed for feeding and he was looking to hide himself somewhere ... or is it one of those things ? he seemed really giddy after eating ,

i think they just get a little overexcited at feeding time, and just do some wierd stuff sometimes. probably just sniffing around.

My female would act like she was looking for more food, so at her next feeding I offered her seconds, an lemme tell ya shes a lil piggy. She puts away 2 mice at each meal. When shes done I put her back in her tank and off to her hide she goes to digest for a few days. Maybe hes looking for seconds, offer it to him, if he wants it he'll take it LOL.

Mine will either move around and be a little ansy, or go back into their hides to digest. Being that you removed the hide, it could be that he was just looking for a secluded place. There's no reason to take the hide out, and many Balls prefer to hunt from their hide because they are ambush predators.

cheers for the replies .. I have 2 hides so he has a place to feel secure but I find that if I leave the hide in on the warm side he just slinks away and doesn't get tempted out by food but I will try a second feed next time .. thanks for the tips folks

if he won't eat cause he's warm and cozy in his hide then he's not hungry. overfeeding snakes is something which, unfortunately we all do having them as pets. they certainly don't get fast food service weekly in the wild!

that's why i skip a week every month. not on my hatchling corns... but on my larger snakes... all of them. i feed them three weeks and then miss a week. many others miss a week every 6 weeks... really depends on you and when you can handle NOT feeding LOL it was so hard for me at first cause i felt like i was being mean.
