    New to Boas

    Hi
Im new to Boas and I like them alot. As a kid that Columbian Red Tail Boa was my favorite snake. I just loved the colors on them as well as the size and that they were easy to handle.

When I saw all the different morphs in the boas Im blown away amazing colors patters etc.

I have my 1st Boa its an B.C.C. Albino DH Snow female that I got from CVExotics.

I cant wait for her to grow to adult hood so that I can breed her. What would be the perfect male to breed her to? A normal DH Snow male or Anery DH Snow male or Albino DH Snow. Does it come down to witch one I can afford or get ? Would you get the same amount of Snows in an Albino DH Snow x Albino DH Snow breeding than if I was to breed a Albino DH Snow x Normal DH Snow ? I find reptile Genitcis so confusing. Trying to get a handle or a grasp of it all.

Another ? that I have pertains to the Sunglows and MoonGlows. I know that my Albino DH Snow is 100 % Het for Albino and Anery. My ? is what makes a Sunglow and what makes a Moonglow. I think that the Sunglow is my favorite Boa but I cant afford one so I would like to mabey buy some hets and attempt to breed for the sunglow as well as the Moonglow.

Does anyone here have any Sunglows or Moonglows. If you do could you pleae post your pics of them.

    Thanks

Nice DH snow there but one question, where did you find a b.c.c. albino het snow? lol I think you meant to say B.c.i. or possibly a B.c.i. x B.c.c. cross.

    Re: New to Boas

I'm going to take a stab at this: sunglows are hypomelanistic (or salmon line) albinos.

Example: hypo, het. albino x hypo het albino = 25% sunglow (hypo, homo. albino), 50% hypo het albino, 25% hypo. Also all hypo babies will be 50% chance super hypo?

I'll be back after I do another read up on Moonglows...

    Re: New to Boas

Moonglows are hypomelanistic snows. Snows are homo. anerythristic homo. albinos.

Example: hypo, het. albino, het. anery x hypo, het. albino, het. anery=

hypos, hypo het albinos, hypo het anery's, hypo het anery het albinos, hypo homo albinos (sunglows), hypo homo anery (not sure what this is called?), hypo homo albino het anery's (sunglow het moonglow?), hypo homo anery het albino's (not sure what this is called het moonglow?), hypo homo albino homo anery (moonglow)

    Re: New to Boas

I know a little something about genetics as well.
The only ways to make a sunglow is- Albino X Hypo het albino or Het albino x hypo het Albino unless you start with a sunglow in the first place.

Moonglow is like Rapture said a hypo snow boa. Its 2 recessive and 1 co-dom gene.

As for what to breed her to, I would personally go for a Triple het moonglow. You would have a pretty high chance of making a moonglow. An Albino het Anery male would make an even better outcome. More albinos that way!!
