listen for a clicking or popping sound as well and notice if your snake has his neck stretched out or his head elevated all the time those are other symptoms my bp is doing a similar thing so im taking him to the vet tomorrow it's 105 bucks, but it's worth his health

Occasionally I hear them hiss a bit.. when it's an RI you're usually going to hear bubbly gurgly noises.

Ok, Thanks. I am pretty sure its not an RI now. When I get some more money, I'm taking them to the vey either way

Re: I think my BP might have a RI...
I just lost my favorite albino to RI and she had been under treatment, vet even thought we caught it early, did cultures, injections the whole bit. Don't mess around with them. Snakes have one primitive lung and can't cough up congestion so they can choke to death if lung fills with junk. Good luck

I'm concerned with my guy too. He's popping and wheezing occasionally but I think it's possible it could just be because he's retained some skin on his head and around his nose. i've raised the humidity to 70-80 but he's not peeling. He is full grown. He's active when I take him out. He doesn't seem to be elevating his head any more than normal. Do you think I Should wait till his next shedding?

Try giving him a soak in a tepid bath (neither warm nor cool) for a half hour or so. Don't let the water be any deeper than about halfway up his sides, and keep an eye on him the whole time! After the soak, get a warm (just barely warm...not hot) damp towel and let him slither through it so that he rubs his face and neck around in the towel. Hopefully that'll loosen up that stuck on shed.
I'd still have him checked out by a vet, though. As has been noted, RI's are not something to take lightly. Better to try to catch it early and be wrong....than to wait and see and have him get seriously sick while you were waiting.

I hear that with my adult boa and ball - never hear the hoggie though guess it's because she's a lot smaller - just regular breathing like a human would make. No other gurgly noises or runny noses or anything else though.
