Caging setup
We are moving into the house that we are building in about 2 weeks. I get my own reptile room and I want to know what caging setups I could use for multiple reptiles. Snakes Mainly. I was thinking like the tub racks but I am not sure it is the best idea to go with what do you think?

It really depends. if you are planning on keeping smaller snakes (Balls, colubrids, ect) then go for tubs in a rack system. If you are planning on keeping larger snakes like B.c.i. or even giants, Home built cages or manufactured cages like Boaphile or Animal Plastics are the way to go.

I plan on keeping corns, balls, and other colubrids but the largest thing i already have is 2 Common boas 5 & 7 ft long. That is probably the largest of the snakes I will keep anyway but I don't think that tubs are manufactured that large are they?

http://www.reptiletubs.com/ click on tubs and go to the VE-175 tubs. they are huge!
racks for the smaller ones and cages for the boas.

Ya, I wouldn't dream of putting my pride and joy(Ruby, my 6' female B.c.i.) in a tub. She will eventually be the "Center piece" in my herp room when we get it done.

If you like display cages more than tubs and you're not going to have a huge amount of animals you can always get cages of assorted sizes that stack on top of each other. I personally find it visually appealing, but maintenance would be more work than having a combo of racks and cages.

I now keep 14 different snakes and 12 of them are in a rack system and it makes things 10000x easier especially when it comes to cleaning day. A simple dump, spray, wipe, and dry, throw some more substrate in and you are good to go. I can clean all my tubs and have snakes back in them within 30-45 mins
