    that is amazing! I never knew snakes could just change color like that. do any of them ever stay that reddish color or do they always change?

    I have never heard of one not changing. I have had a slow starter not begin to change for over a year. I'll see about posting a series for an amazon basin emerald. Northerns tend to have pattern when born, kind of what you see is what you get. Basins only show a little of what they are going to have pattern wise and as they change color, pattern begins to show.

    Although I don't have any pics loaded up from just after birth, here is the progression from about one month for this little girl.

    Amazon Basin (Lesha) born 12-20-03

    At one month


    at 4 months (you can see green starting around the nostrils and her dorsal stripe is starting to fill in)


    at 5 months (some crossbars are beginning to show}


    at 6 months


    at 7 months


    Just over 1 year
