Re: snakes/baths?
Yes, they can swim under water. They can also drown. When its necessary to bathe or soak a BP, it's always recommended to not let the water be any deeper than about halfway up their sides.

Judy's point is key...be VERY cautious about the water level. The benefits of soaking are many: cleans the body and removes any feces, aids in hydration, can help relax bowels and induce bowel movements, helpful before and during shed to ensure the skin comes off clean, ...I'm sure there are many more

Just be sure to watch the water temp. What feels warm to you is TOO WARM for your ball. Room temp is ok but I perfer to start with the water in the 80-85 degree range even though it quickly cools down.

I clean my tub out just to let my baby swim... she loooovvvveeessss swimming! When she first discoverd her water dish all she did for 2 days was swim, not coil, swim..needless to say that its now extreamely hard to keep water in her dish. lol, she splashes it everywhere as she flails her tail about.. its so entertaining haha

Re: snakes/baths?
No need to bathe your snakes for the sake of getting them clean...someone once told me..."shedding is nature's way of giving a snake a bath."
To me, watching a ball python move erratically in water appears to be more stressful than enjoyable.

Re: snakes/baths?
well if it was stressful she wouldnt do it. I think ball pythons are smarter than that.. well... at least mine is... at least I would hope... but elevatethis makes a good point, BP don't actually NEED baths...
