    Ack girl I'm green with jealousy! A private balcony off the Master! Lucky dog! Gorgeous pics...how in the heck do sideways icicles form? Is this a Texas thing LOL?

    Thankee thankee, Jo and everyone! Not sure about the sideways 'cicles...I figured they formed normally and then the branch holding them up just bent over...but it didn't look like any of the branches were drooping that deeply. Definitely an fascinating effect!

    Icicles form from frozen water. The snow in the air begins to melt when it touches the tree branches which are warmer than the surounding air. Then, when the wind blows from the side the water re-freezes sideways. It is really cool!!!
