Best of luck at the vet's visit. A good herp vet is your new best friend LOL. Do remember to have a secure container to transport your little scaley buddy in to the vet's office. Snakes loose in cars are not a good thing. You may want to also have a couple of those instant shake heat pads tucked in with the snake if your area of the world is a bit cold this time of year. This is what we use to transport our snakes in. I just take a couple of those heater things, shake them to activate, tuck them in an old sport sock and tuck that under a layer of paper towels for the vet trips in cooler weather. Works like a dream. Warm happy snake secure in it's little container...my vet is thrilled LOL. You can find these anywhere in tons of sizes from about $2 to $6 dollars (don't forget to melt/drill in some vent holes).
For monitoring temps/humidity you just can't beat the Acu-Rite from WalMart. It's not perfect but for about $12.00 plus 1 AAA battery it's a darn fine thing and in use by many members here. Keeping temps/humidity in the proper ranges will over time make for a healthier snake and healthy snakes don't run up big vet bills so consider anything to do with keeping a tight control on the snake's environment as a smart investment.
