It is not considered healthy to house more than one snake together, you are correct. Disease and parasite transmission, as well as cannibalism are all possibilities, and stress is almost certain.

There are many other snakes (and lizards) that would make a fine choice as a second herp. What do you have in mind for your new herp? Any size/color/personality/etc preferences? I could name off 100 animals you could get.. so give us a little help.
