Re: Female Columbian Boa
If your boa had IBD you would have dead ball pythons within 2 months. The IBD kills pythons very quickly, yes boas can be carriers. Is there a specific reason you are thinking yours might have IBD? If so its not right to pass her/him onto someone else.Or did someone tell you the wrong info about IBD maybe? Not being rude just giving you correct info here .

Re: Female Columbian Boa
I just read on here that they can be carriers. The boa has been housed within 3 feet of the ball pythons for over a year. I thought the only way to tell was through a blood test. So if nothing has happened, nothing ever will? Can I keep her?Any help you give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Female Columbian Boa
Yes boas can be asymptomatic carriers of the disease. This means that they can have the disease but not show any symptoms of it. If yours has been housed with your pythons for over a year then theres probably no chance at all that she has it. Like already said this disease will kill a python very quickly. It sounds to me like you get to keep your boa! She is one beautiful lookin' boa by the way.

Trey, how long have you had the ball pythons? How long have you had the boa? If your boa had IBD your ball pythons would be dead within 2 months as its VERY fatal to pythons. The boas can be carriers but as i said you would know something was up within the 2 month time frame. If you have had them longer then the 2 months i feel it is fine to keep your boa.Now IBD can be passed onto other snakes if you do not follow VERY strict quarintine rules. When you got these snakes were they properly quarintined? At the least 2 months. If you have any other questions just let me know.

I missed the part about the blood tests. To be honest the "blood tests" really only show that the snake "might" have IBD.The only real sure way is a neucropsy(spelling). If they have been around one another for a year then you have no worriers with your collection now.

Re: Female Columbian Boa
Just to ease your mind a little, I have had a BCI for a few years now, about 5 feet from my BP cages, and all is well.

Re: Female Columbian Boa
Glad to hear you decided on keeping her. IBD is very rare so as long as you buy from reputable and honest breeders it's not usually a problem. Post more pics of her too!
