Should my BP live with a corn snake?

I need advice! I own an 8 month old ball python, and now I also want to own a corn snake! This guy at the pet store said that if I bought a corn snake about the same size/age then they are okay to live together in the same cage. Is this true? Will it be okay for my BP? Please let me know what you think!

    no...not ok

You can easily house both in a separate rubbermaid tub. Housing them together could result in your ball making a meal out of the corn snake. there are a number of reasons why this is not OK...i don't even know why they would tell you that's OK

no, you should not keep any snakes together. Same age, sex, kind, doesn't matter, if one get sick, so will the other, and that won't be good. Snakes also get stressed when they are living with another snake.

Definately do not house together. And please, don't listen to the pet store employees, they generally don't have much of a clue.

Re: Should my BP live with a corn snake?

Not to mention that they most likely have different husbandry requirements. Admitably (is that a word?) I don't know the husbandry requirements of corns, but I don't imagine they're the same.

As Nate suggested, if you don't like your corn very much, you could house that little appetizer with your ball python.

Snakes do not desire, nor require companionship. On top of that, when forced to live together, they have no way to get away from the other one. If you can't afford to individually house each of them, pass on the corn snake.

Snakes are solitary animals so regardless of Species, Age, Size. 1 SNAKE = 1 ENCLOSURE.

Pet Stores will say anything not sure if it is lack of knowledge or if they would just say anything to make a sale. Probably a bit of both.
