Also look at things like picture size. Many people think they need to have their digital cameras set to the highest resolution and then expect to share their images on the internet. The result is pics that are generally way to big in size display wise as well as file size wise. If you have 30 images over a Mb in size of course its going to take some time. On top of that if your photo service automatically resizes images for you...add on more time yet as it takes more resources to resize images as you upload them. Other things like bandwidth caps, users per node in your area, and time of day can affect bandwidth availability.

Broadband services can "guarantee" X amount of bandwidth all day long but in reality it will always be variable.
