hi cassandra,

i just completed my GIS course last quarter... i am a biology major and really have no solid background with code or html stuff... i tell you GIS is tuff... especially for the beginner... but i put lots of time into that class and got a B+!!! i havent taken any advanced graphics courses yet... and i havent learned commandline or how to write code.

the symbols on my mdx arent gps waypoints, i am familiar with the distribution of retics so i just created point feature classes and used some silly symbols

the actual shapefiles i downloaded from the geography network... i have a few more MDX files i created... i'll post them soon.

i think what i could do is create a zipfile and email them... but as i am sure you know ArcMap is still developing and there are many knots to work out with the program... i heard the new version is coming out soon.

for my class project i recorded gps waypoints on a grid i made that was 200 meters squared and created attributes based on my location... i was doing a study on a portion of a river here in my town, my study concerned the distribution of trees by genus in relation to soil moisture levels and distance from the water source... it was a pretty fun project because i got to see more and more interesting things as i played around with the program... it turns out that i could show how the river had meandered since the typographic map was created and when the orthographic pictures where taken... the typo map was created in the 70's and the satillite image was taken in the early 90's...

ArcMap kicks ass i am glad i took it!!
