    Tiny Neighbor

Got a few pics of the little hummybird that fiercely guards the tree that overhangs our porch. The lighting wasn't good, but I like them anyway. Feisty little guy! As I took these, he was "singing" his little heart out!

I agree! Amazing you caught it still. We had 3 at our old house that would visit our bottle brush bushes daily....sure do miss them.

    Re: Tiny Neighbor

I love them , next summer I would like to get pics at my sisters house. They swarm her house at times it appears to be in the hundreds.

They are constantly darting around trying to get into the best spot at the feeders. At the time she bought her house it was an inground home on a very lrg. bare hill overlooking the river. The first year there she planted over 200 trees and now that they are lrger she has all types of feeders in the trees and along the front of the house. Wildlife everywhere. Buys bird seed by the 100's of lbs. The humming birds are my favorites. Sorry for the long post.

    Re: Tiny Neighbor

They've probably come down here for the winter! This little guy always takes over our tree, so I see him both in flight and sitting still all the time. That's his very favorite spot to sit when he's not in flight. I'd love to catch him in flight, sometimes he hovors in front of our window peeking in at us but it's always too quick to catch.

I hope you do get pics at your sister's house! Swarms of them would be AWESOME to see!

Our little hummer and the occassional dove, pigeon, sparrow, or gecko are the only wildlife we get around here. Every once in a while I'll catch a glimpse of a hawk in the city, but otherwise not so much... I do need to go herping outside the city though before we move NW. Don't want to miss out on some desert herping while we're here! Maybe we'd even see a burrowing owl or two!

We get a bunch down here in the summer. For cute little birds, they sure are territorial!
