nope we had some pretty good mom and pop shops but petco ran them out

That's weird, my Petco sells both males and females, Petsmart sells only females (in Atlanta).

I wish that I was near you; I have a lot of girls here. I would not know how to ship a rat; I'd think they would chew through anything you could easily pack them in!

I don't believe that you'd find anyone that would ship a live rat, I don't even know if it's considered safe or not (for the rat). I'm sure it's done in the serious (as in breeding for pets or shows) rat breeder community, but I bet it's not a matter of shipping FedEx or UPS, but probably more likely Delta Dash.

Look around for another Petco , they should have female's that are ready to go Two of my girl's are from petco , I wanted to bring some new blood into my colony.

Yeah, not something I plan on doing. My friend used to have her rats/mice delivered to her store by a breeder; he had these plastic containers with gridlike sides; not sure that they were chewproof, but then again this was just some guy driving them an hour or so..
