    Question Question?????

Okay, so the corn I got a few weeks back, has been doing great, eats everytime (3 times).

Only problem, when the corn poops, it comes out as a full pinkie, not even slightly digested. I take it something is wrong, any ideas? This has happened 4 times now......

Its in a cage, 11"x7"x8", the one the breeder gave, me and told me to keep him in for 1 month or so. The temp is about 85* and humidity is around 40-50. He lives on aspen shavings. Has a hide, and a water bowl.

He hasn't gained a gram, or grown slightly in length, I've had him for about 2 weeks now.

Sounds like he's throwing them up, not pooing them out. There could be many reasons. I had a corn that did that a few times and then she got over it. Make sure the pinky is tiny tiny tiny and that it's smaller than the diameter of the snake and that might take care of the problem.

    Re: Question?????

He is regurgitating not defecating and you need to find out why. This is a very serious problem and can lead to the quick demise of your snake. To start, I would take a fecal sample or the snake(or both) to the vet and get the feces checked for internal parasites.

Is the entire enclosure 85 degrees or just one side? Does he have 2 identical, tiny hides he can get into? Small, 2-3" clay saucers (sit underneath the pot to catch water) work well for hides as they are dark, heavy and low to the ground. I use the 4" ones for my two corns.

When was the last time he regurgitated? Are you handling him alot? You can handle them 48 hours after they eat, but with baby corns, I would limit handling to a bare minimum until they're eating on a consistent basis. They're easily stressed little snakes(I handle mine once or twice per week).

If they regurgitate, you want to not feed them for 2 weeks after. Limit handling only to what is necessary(cleaning the enclosure). Just change his water and leave him alone. After the 2 weeks is up, you can offer a very tiny, 1-2 day old pink mouse.

I wish you the best of luck with him.

A baby corn snake can eat a 2 day old pinky mouse with zero problems.I have fed baby corns right out of the eggs a 2 day old mouse pinky.

Your snake is not eating that pinky and pooing it out its regurging it.How are you measuring your temps? What is your method of heating this "cage"? Why are you attempting to fed him/her 4 times in 2 weeks? My babies eat every 5 days when i have them.I would leave that snake totaly alone for 7 full days, only enter to change water or clean up poo. When the FULL seven days is up i would attempt to feed it 1 small mouse pinky(1 or 2 days old).If it does not eat then leave it alone for 7 more days(same as last 7 days). If after this 7 days it does not eat then i suggest you contact the breeder and get his/her assistance.Keep us posted please.
