Blood from cloaca

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their snakes. I found a small spot of blood on the substrate yesterday so I examined my bp. Found what looks like dried/semidried blood under the scales of her vent. I have a vet appointment in 2 hours but I wondered what everyone's take was on this.

I'll give you the lowdown just in case;

20gal tank
90-93 hot side, 78-82 cool side
2 hides
always fresh water
she's roughly 8 months old
on her second fast already this year. Last one was 2 months, this is going on same.
Shed 2 days ago, passed urates yesterday. No sign of blood with urates

Any insight is appreciated.

I have seen it on the vent area of the shed fo my male from time to time. But nothing major. Sory I couldn't be of more help.

He said it was just a bad scale. Could have something to do with passing urates or the shed. He said it's only one, so not to worry. If she had them all over then I'd have a problem. I also had him probe her while he was at it and he said she is actually a he. 515g and 33in.

the vent scale is a bad scale?

what did he say about it, what to do etc?

He said just keep an eye on it. Should I get a second opinion? He lifted the scale and said it's just the color of it, and there was only a small amount of dried blood. There was a bit of bleeding during the probe but it stopped pretty much right after he was done.

fyi, a second opinion in person would be quite difficult, as the vet I go to is the only herp vet within an hour of me.

Im curious why you thought it was a female, but turned out to be male. Where the spurs next to the cloaca very short (2 or 3 millimeters?) or were they longer?

I never really thought it was a female. I just chose a female name when I named 'her' so I went with that. The spurs seemed longer a few months ago than they do now. They used to be quite visible, now I really have to look closely.

Injury can accure if probing is done with force or by someone that doesn't know what they doing.
I would be worried if my snake started bleeding during a probing and they probed it female.

Why you might ask?

The males Hemipeins are longer and extend futher into the tail than the female's mmmmm.. stuff. If it was a female and they probed it male then he punched a hole in the females naughty bits. Thats where you get blood from during a probing. Big time injury
