A question for all you boa peeps... and everyone else, too

The possibility exists that Santa will be very good to me this year (hopefully my luck will take a nice change for the better). Anyway, I'm attempting to do a little planning ahead---for later breeding projects---and was wondering what you guys thought.

I really want me a ghost boa. And being as I'll never be able to afford one myself, I figure I'll just make myself one. So, here's my question: do I get a DH Ghost boa to start? Or do I get a really nice hypo? Here's what I'm looking at (these are both from Special K Reptiles):

    DH Ghost:

    Hypo:

They both run about the same price---maybe $50 difference towards the DH Ghost.

    So, what do you think?

If your end result will be a Ghost, I would assume that getting the DH Ghost will shorten the steps in producing one.

Hypo is a co dom trait meaning if you breed a hypo to a normal, you get hypos in the litter as well as normals. You would need Either
1 Hypo het anery and 1 anery
1 hypo het anery and 1 het anery
    2 hypo het anery.
The last and first ones will give you the most % of ghosts than the other I posted.
    Hope this helps

I guess I should've made my intentions clearer:

I realize if I get the hypo there will be extra steps involved. If I chose that path, I would get a very nice anery to breed it to, keep the possible DH hets, etc.

My question I guess is: would you recommend getting the DH Ghost and taking the shorter path (it is a very nice Het). Or do you get one very nice Hypo and very nice anery and start from scratch, per say?

If you got babies and went the 2nd way, you would be looking at 6+ years before you would make a ghost. If you went with a DH and an anery, you COULD produce ghosts in a few years. Its up to you but I wouldn't want to wait 6+ years to produce a snake that will be MUCH cheaper to buy by then
