Alright, help me make sure I've got this right.

Let us say, hypothetically, that I have a snake that is 'co-dom for Bell line pastel'. 'Bell-line' does not refer to it's morph, but to the line of snakes that it came from--like 'NERD' line snakes come from NERD. Is this correct? And if so, just who is 'Bell'?

Yep, correct. Bell refers to Kim and Mark Bell.

So that means that, chances are, I've got a normal Pastel? See, this is where I get fuzzy. My hypothetical co-dom pastel is from Bell. But that doesn't tell me what kind of Pastel he hypothetically is co-dom for. Because there ARE different kinds of Pastels, right? Lemon and Jungle being two such examples.

well, i guess you'd have to find out what kind of pastel they produce.

Well, yes, this is true...And one day, when I hopefully have the $$ to do so, I will do just that! Because, technically speaking, that's what I've got. A male co-dom for Bell line pastel normal. Or, at least, that's what David over at OldWorldPythons tells me. I'd have to breed him with a pastel female to get pastel bebes, but I could. And would love to. I may as well just change my savings account name to "Fundage For Snake Project". I desperately want another snake, even though I haven't had Siliast for four months yet. Though he did just turn four months old, the little stinker.

Re: Alright, help me make sure I've got this right.

I'm not sure what you mean by "codom for pastel male normal".

Either a snake is pastel or it isn't....there's no "het for pastel", since pastel is the het form, and the homozygous form is a super-pastel.

If you hypotheticly breed a pastel male to a pastel female, you will produce pastels, super-pastels, and normals.

However, if you have a pastel male, you can produce pastels simply by breeding him to any female, hypotheticly.

....Okay, I think I see what you mean--and what I misunderstood in the e-mail. So in other words, I've got a snake that looks a little bit prettier than most normals, because his Papa was a bell-line pastel, correct?

Hmm... if the sire (papa) was a pastel, then you either have a normal or a pastel. If you have a pastel, then you will be able to produce more pastels (and normals) by breeding to a normal.

I wished! I have a normal. A handsome, handsome normal, but a normal none the less. A little light colored, but I certainly wouldn't call him pastel. I don't mind at all, nevertheless. He's all mine and he's very healthy and lovely. Which reminds me: I need to get some scales and weigh him.

Hey, nothing wrong with normals! Post some pics if you get a chance.
