Help! Red Tail Boa Adoption (Illinois)
I haven't been fit to be a herp. owner.
Recently have been slacking on upkeep and such and realized that my red tail boa's enclosure has been noticeably affect by mite presence. It's been hard taking care of her in a Chicago apartment (keeping proper temperatures in with a layout like mine and window exposure is getting to be impossible). I feel like a jerk and a failure in terms of herps and I know after my move to the city, my ability to keep herps was greatly strained. I don't think I can give her the life I'd like her to have. I have an increasingly difficult couple of months ahead of me (ie moving, schedule changes, and a lot of finacial responsibilities I'm taking on). I was wondering if anyone in the Chicago area would be able to take her in. There will be no adoption charge: screw money, I want her to have a good life. This is critical and ASAP. I will be able to drive to surrounding areas within a reasonable distance but mostly likely something can be worked out if you're anywhere near Chicago or the northern suburbs. We can figure it out.
Let me know and thank you. Definitely needs to be someone that has worked with mites before and boas, someone that can handle the financial responsibility, obviously not an undertaking for an amateur. Thank you for your time and if you'd like a beautiful boa in your life that you feel you can give a better life, please post. Thank you again.

Thanks for making taking the trouble to find her a home. I'm sure someone will come forward. It's not always easy to admit you got in over your head. Hope you find her a dynamite home.

I would take her but I live in Carbondale, IL. But if you or anyone you know is coming this way let me know and I will take her.

Re: Help! Red Tail Boa Adoption (Illinois)
I can take her only if you were able to ship her which i would pay for. I have done mites twice in my herping experience so mites are fine and my brother has a RTB so it would be easy to cope with. Again I would pay shipping unless you would want to drive to the middle of Iowa.

Re: Help! Red Tail Boa Adoption (Illinois)
Hey,
I may be able to help. I am in the south burbs of Chicago and have 4 red-tails right now. I wasnt planning to take any more but I have the room to take her and would love to get her in a better situation. I have experianced the mite thing and will actually be in the city on Wed. Dec. 27th for the chicagoland herp meeting if that would work for pick up, or sooner if you would like. Let me know if this works for you and I can get my number to you so we can talk.
