Re: can you help me
this is how i do my stuff
spot clean DAILY.....meaning look in the enclosure every day. if you see waste, get a baggie and clean it up.
do a full clean once a week. new bedding, new rack, clean bowls and hides once a week.
if you use newspaper as a substrate, then you will clean more often.

one thing you need to remember, if you wouldn't want to live there, then it's probably time to clean.
I use aspen which makes it really easy to spot clean.
Everyday, I pull out the water bowl rinse it out and dry it off then put fresh water in it. I take a good whiff to see if there are any "bad" smells coming from the cage. If I do that usually means he made a mess somewhere. I go looking for the problem.
Snakes generally do not smell bad. If when you are handling your snake and it smells bad, then you need to do a really good job of cleaning his environment. His skin is picking up the smell of his enclosure. I also think that it is a good idea (once a month) to let my snake swim in a very shallow tub of warm water -- never more than 1/2 inch deep. He generally likes it and it does wonders for his skin...

I do a full clean every week like others are saying. If your snake "stinks" you need to look at your husbandry....and probably soak the snake.

My ball doesn't smell, he actually smells kinda nice. His poop on the other hand is one of the foulest smelling things i've ever encountered. Just like with any caged pet, the more you clean their enviroment the better it smells.

I've been cleaning less often... maybe it's because my ball python doesn't poop very much. He's only pooped maybe three times since September! Of course, he has a habit of skipping meals now and then.
