Locale Boa's and Paperwork
Here is a question for everyone.
If someone such as Boaphile, Rio Bravo, etc. were to advertise a boa as a locale specific, would you question the what they claimed? Would you want documentation? Would you beleive that it is a locale specific animal?
Now, what if someone new to the boa market advertised a locale specific boa? Would you question what they claimed? Would you want documentation? Would you believe it is a locale specific animal?
I am curious as to what the conscensus would be in this scenario?

What does locale specific mean? (more out of curiosity... since I obviously can't answer your question ^^;

A boa collected from a specific location.

Depends on what locale...the Guyana/Surinam thing, well, unless they received the package with Guyana or Surinam postage, I wouldn't believe anyone, since there is plenty of evidence that they are the same snake, just picked up from different lines on the map. But really doesn't matter with Guyana/Surinam BCC - just what look you are looking for.
Other locales, sure, I'd trust Jeff at Boaphile or Gus at Rio Bravo...and if I was looking for a specific locale boa, I'd be sure to do a ton of research on it first and would hope that my knowledge and the knowledge of fellow boa geeks could help ascertain the snake in question's origin.
More difficult, however, when you are speaking about Hog Island, since it's hard to know if the animal is "pure" or not...then it would have to come down to pure trust, and again, reputation would probably win out.
0.1 ball python (Cleo), 0.1 surinam bcc (Carmen)
1.0 sunglow motley corn (Jenson), 1.0 albino burmese (Lourdes)
1.0 cat (Nicky), some mooses and ratters, 1.0 hubby (Rick)

Re: Locale Boa's and Paperwork
Im not a Boa guy so Im not going to get too much into this, though I do have quite a few opinions, but Im only going to bring up the biggest one I have....... Who's to say the collectors are telling the truth when they sell imported Boas to Jeff Ronne etc.??, basically they could say any animal came from the location of their choice. Kinda like with heterozygous animals, where someone can tell you any old animal is het for *insert morph here*... only in this case the only way to prove where it came from, is to have collected the animal yourself IMO

True, but certain types of boas cannot pass off for others. I.E. I don't know anyone looking for a suri that would see a normal mutt colombian and think it was suri just because Joe Blow says it is. It is real hard to say what is pure bred and what is a mutt anymore because of all the natural breeding over time.
