BP alone for over a week?

Hey-O. I'm a college student and I'll be going home soon for winter break. You guessed it, I have a BP. I absolutely can't take hin home, that's not even an option. So, I have to leave him at my apartment at school. I won't be going the entire time, only from ~17 to just after new years.

Soooooo, I guess the only thing to be concerned about (that I can think of) is humidity. I have thermostats controlling the CHE and UTH. Will she be okay with room humidity for a couple of weeks? I'll likely toss in an extra H20 bowl and/or a humid hide... any thoughts?

what's the normal humidity in there without assistance from a humid hide?

in our home... i wouldn't add a humid hide or an extra water dish for humidity if i went away.

Aleesha is right if the humidity is right on and holds steady when your there then you should be good to go for a while. What is the normal RH % of your tank?

Not high enough I don't think. I know the humidity in the tank when I don't mist for several days is in the high 30s to low 40s. I mist like a madman to keep it where it needs to be. I live in central Indiana, to give you an idea of the climate.

Is there anyone who's at your apartment/staying in the building over most of the break that you'd trust enough to give your key to? Or someone who lives nearby that you trust enough to give your key to? Or a friend who lives near you who could take him?

It's one thing if it's a single week, but from what you've said, you're going to be gone closer to two weeks or so. I don't know that I'd personally feel safe leaving a BP alone with low humidity and water that might not last for the full two weeks...

They're hardy snakes, but if there are -any- other options open to you, I'd try those out instead of leaving him alone.
