Do you "baby talk" to your herps?

I get total grief from my daughter when I talk to Fluffy. I don't know if its the attention or just the proximity of another warm body, but he does seem to like it. I say all sorts of things to my "snakey-wakey". My wife thinks its cute, and my son makes no comments (he really does not want to have anything to do with the snake.) BUT my daughter is relentless with her poking fun at me.

Does anyone else talk to their snakes? Baby-talk?

I don't with my snakes but occasionally do with my geckos lol. Mostly because my 2 year old daughter does it with them. She calls them "Dedoes"

i dont baby talk to my snakes , but i do talk to them even though i know they cant hear me . heck , i hold entire one sided conversations with them . i dont think it affects my snakes one way or the other , it does help me keep focused on what i'm doing .

There you go. I think that I'll try that. See if he can give me some ideas how to deal with my boss.

I'm not a BP owner yet, but I talk to my Beta, Chloe--so I'm sure that in February when I'm a BP-mommy, I'll talk to him, too.

Re: Do you "baby talk" to your herps?

It's sorta like having a baby all over again. I mean I clean up messes, hand feed him, make sure his crib is all right, and he cant talk back or really show much emotion. Little babies just kinda lie there and cry. THANK GOD snakes don't cry!!!!
