    Updates on Miss Q.

My first, and favorite, ball python Q (Late 04') has become quite the snake, however she's in her teenage angst stage of life....for the last few months she's been hovering between 900-1000 grams empty. She went off feed for me earlier this spring for about a month, but then started back up again...I really thought she would be good to go for this season but that weight wasn't packing on.

Finally however, she's just broke the 1000 gram mark, still has a bit of additude that she won't kick...but it equates for a solid feeding response. All in all, she's doing great... so cleaning her tub tonight I snapped some photos in her "holding tub".

    Without further adieu...Q:

That was like my girl, Bela, as a 2-year-old. She was hovering around that 1000g mark, but that was last year, so I waited her out and she is ready this year. Don't worry, she'll get there someday! I know it's a bugger waiting, though. She looks to have a nice little attitude; but in my opinion, it's better to have one that will strike a few times in defense, than one that actually constricts and tries to eat your thumb like one of my girls! But I love her anyway.. good luck with your gal!

She's all hiss! I'm too quick, and know her routine too well to get bitten, yet...LOL. She should be good to go next season, which is alright, because I'll have a lovely male VPI pastel for her next year. My other lovely lady in waiting is 1400 grams, so I'm deciding if I should give her a go with my friends pastel this season.

You should have a couple more months to wait on your other girl, she could put on a couple hundred more grams by then.. maybe..

Thanks! I picked her for her lovely caramel brown tones.

Didn't say I was breeding her this instant so she has at least a few months to gain a bit more weight if I decide to give her a go, actually haven't even cooled her yet...she's 1400 grams empty BTW.

I've also have to arrange a breeding loan with my buddy, and QT his pastel for a bit before I introduce them. So it will be a late year clutch if anything... But that's the joy of having a reptile room that is thermostatically controlled, I can breed them anytime of the year.

    Re: Updates on Miss Q.

She's a sweetheart Jason. We've got our Rionnach in that teenage stage right now. Miss Picky is even more picky and she's normally very easy to handle. Right now as she hovers between 900 and 1,000 grams she's just very standoffish and doesn't want a thing to do with anyone. Seems to be a common thing with the females as they mature into adults to go through this stage.
