Uth, Che and stat probe placement
I have a Uth and a che for my enclosure, no snake yet, I am trying to get the temps to the correct range. I have a Johnson control a419 stat. Do i put the stat probe under the tank between the uth and the tank or inside the hot side hide? I had it outside the cage between the cage and uth but the temps never really got to the low 90's. I am using paper towel and newspaper as sub to get started. Should i remove a layer of towel and paper and keep the probe outside? I currently have the stat probe inside the hot side hide with another probe from a therm to make sure it is correct. The temp is holding fast a 91.6 in the hot side hide. Is there any problem with keeping the probe inside the hot side hide? I cut a small hole in the side of the hide and the probe fits in and it doesn't move. Any advice or thoughts would be great.

Re: Uth, Che and stat probe placement
Do you have the UTH and the CHE running off the same thermostat?
I would place the probe between the tank and UTH. Your temps would be more stable. Of course you'd have to have a digital thermometer to make sure that your temps are in the right ranges. You don't want too many external sources to influence the probe.
Here's another thread that may help ya too. http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=27796

Re: Uth, Che and stat probe placement
yes the stat controls both uth and che,
thx for that link, they mostly talk about flex watt there and never really get into the uth area.
thx for your reply

Flexwatt is a commonly used UTH.

oh yes, sorry about that. I would like to try flew watt. Can you get it pre-wired so I just have to plug it into a stat?
