dog Bite (WARNING< PICTURE)

I was walking past my garage in between the garage and neighbors fence (it is tight, maybe 2 feet). And their German Shepard ran up and jumped , stuck his face/chest over the fence and grabbed my arm... Adult size, and his weight yanked my arm down and he let go.

Ask them to show you proof of updated Rabies shots if you do not call the cops or animal control.

Hopefully your neighbours will make it right as far as any medical bills you might have from this as well as provide proof of all updated shots and reinforce/heighten that fence. I grew up with two very large male GSD's and though they never showed any indication to bite humans, they are naturally protective of their property and you just have to be very responsible as an owner with them.

Yeah the neighbors are very nice, and take good care of their pets. They are an older lady and her daughter (in her 30's?) and the pets are like family, and get dropped off at doggy day care when they are at work.

I checked with them on shots, but I was sure they were up to date. They apologized profusely, but the simple answer is either to not go near the fence (though I am worried about it jumping the fence, it mostly just jumps when someone is near it).

Im a nice/easy going guy, so once I will overlook, since it was me and not my wife.

Next time I talk to her I will probably suggest a taller fence. I ran inside and rinsed it and scrubbed it hard with soap and sprayed it out with the sink sprayer (ouch) and then dumped hydrogen peroxide on it a few times. Then I put neosporin on it. It looks very clean now, but is still bleeding as it is a significant gash.

I'm so sorry B. That really looks painful. I wouldn't be surprised if your a bit bruised up tomorrow. I don't think a taller fence is an unreasonable request after that bite. Not at all!

Not a bad idea to have it looked at. I had a smaller bite that landed me in the hospital feverish and fainting when it became infected. 3 days in the hospital. The dog had its' shots too. Watch for inflammation. Soap and water were not enough. That looks deep.

Looks like my dog bite did when it was fresh.

I'd also recommend going to the hospital if you can.. they REALLY clean it out, and dog bites can get infected fairly easily.
