I live in a very dry Southern California and the moss hide is real helpful but what I also found helpful if when you notice your snake is in shed keep the humidity in the enclosure higher until after shed. I will mist them more often and may put a wider larger water bowl to increase humidity. Don't go too over board with humidity because that can lead to illness but I find increasing it a little if the air is dry (winter heating will dry air) only during shed cycles is real helpful. Also you may want to decrease air flow in the enclosure during this time to keep humidity in. By no means make a swamp out of the place. If he has alot of retained shed take the other hides out for a day or so so he will stay in the moss hide. Your moss should be damp but not dripping wet. And don't leave it in there for more than 2 or 3 days max. You don't want to grow mold!!!!!!!
