I'm not sure what you mean by basking spot, since ball pythons don't need a basking spot (they are nocturnal animals).

You need your warm side to be 92-94 degrees and your cool side needs to be 82-84. You really don't want to be dipping too far into the 70's. The higher temp in the warm side hide (aka - belly heat) will aid in your ball python's digestion process.
