Too much humidity in his hiding corners?

So I change Abbath's newspaper every 2 days. Why? Well whenever he just hangs out in his lil corner he always gets is rather moist. I want to make sure he wont get scale rot ect. His humidity is ranges from 48-52% humidity. He has plenty of vent holes and it concerns me a lil. Am I worrying too much or is it ok that I change his newspaper every two days to make sure there isn't a saturation of humidity in his lil corners. Any advice?

Hmmmmmm.....what kinds of hides are you using? Maybe drill/melt a few ventilation holes in the top of them?

Well, he prefers to hide on the sides of his houses. I have crumbled up newspaper around the hides and I put crumbled up paper in the hides to give him a tighter feel but he hardly goes in them. Maybe get some tighter hides?

Yeah....try smaller, tighter hides. Honestly though, I've never heard of that much moisture building up beneath a BP's sleeping spot. Maybe you got blessed with a snake that pees frequently? Mine only pees every couple of weeks, but when she does, oohhhh boy, she'll soak her whole enclosure!

48% humidity is a bit low. 52% can even be considered a bit low. try getting a substrate that does not inhibit the growth of mold and hold so much moisture on the surface.

Naw 50% humidity is the prefered level for a BP. Unless it's in "blue" then I up it to 70%.

i meant for me. 52 is too close to the 40's for me to feel comfortable with my snake being in there so i keep it a little higher at 55-60

I disagree. I think around 50% is fine for daily maintenance. 48-52 is fine.

And this doesn't make any sense. You want him to use a substrate that encourages mold growth?? Newspaper is about the cleanest substrate you can use and I've never heard of anyone having mold issues with it. (unless maybe they let it sit and get totally gross for weeks and weeks on end)

I change it every 2 days so there's no way it'll grow mold. Unless you let it sit in high humidity like you said. I dont think I've ever seen mold on newspaper to be honest.
