? about humid hide?
I am having major issues with my humidity. Yes I have a glass tank and no I really do not want to put Zeke in a tub. I went today and bought some sphagnum moss. My question is Do I dampen it and just put it in where the warm hide is? Is it ok for him to lay on? Are my temps going to go up on the warm side because of the moss?

Re: ? about humid hide?
Have you tried the plastic wrap on the lid and a larger water bowl? You can also try using a small room humidifier.
As for the humid hide, you can lightly dampen the moss. You just don't want it to be wet. You can try and put the probe inside the hide to monitor the temps, just in case.

Re: ? about humid hide?
I already have plastic wrap and duck tape blocking off 3/4 of the screen. I also already have a pretty large rock bowl in the tank. I have made a humid hide with the help of robin. We will see what happens. Thank you for the help guys

I am using a uth with the water dish in the center. I will move the water dish more toward the warm side. Thank you

Re: ? about humid hide?
Haveing a small live plant in there usually can help, especially since you must water them. instead of all the plastic wrap, a warm wet, but not soaked towel covering most of the lid will help with some humidity. Some will say be cautious with this though because wetness can attract bacteria, but you should be ok if you change it enough.

Re: ? about humid hide?
I get great results from misting once or twice a day (just mist the glass or decor...no need to mist everything
you could also try cypress mulch substrate
another thing that I use in my frog tank is you can buy a moss sheet which is sold as a reptile substrate and hang it from one of the walls of the tank. you can keep it damp since it's hanging up so the snake doesn't have to lay on it.

Re: ? about humid hide?
Actually I am going today to get Zeke a new home hopefully today as long as I do not decide to go with an enclosure that has to be ordered....I was an uneductaed person when I first bought Zeke and took him from a 10 gallon tank to a 45 gallon tank in the matter of 3 months. My local reptile store sells some very nice "appropriately" sized enclosures for snakes...they even order vision cages! I am going this afternoon to re look over my choices and get him into something more appropriate.
Thank you for all the great advice
