overpriced and under powered...but that's just me. Whenever someone asks me for advice I advice them NOT to buy from retail store best buy or something. You can almost always get a better deal direct from the manufacturer and they won't add a bunch of crap that you don't need. I can't stand going to electronics stores and listening to sales people.

The other brands I was looking at was HP and Gateway. I've heard some good and bad about them. I really want something with the core 2 duo processor in it.

There are good and bad things about anything, buy direct from a manufacturer and get an extended warranty. If something goes wrong or malfunctions you just send it in for repair. I usually try and make it as clear as possible to people that they need sit down and make a list of what they want to use it for or what features they think they will want/need. Core 2 duo is a good choice, its the most current processor architecture and even if you can't utilize its full capability at the moment you will have it for the future.

Alot of folks I talk to when looking at getting a laptop quickly realize that they don't need one and get a desktop setup for alot less that can do more.

I ended up getting a Dell 1705. The processor was better than any I could find in a store. Plus they had a coupon for 25% off.
