Ok so my humidity is at 50 which i read is the ideal humidity for cresteds, but today i notice my crested trying to run up the wall but he wouldnt grip on. Anybody have any ideas, i hope petco didnt mess him up before i got him.

Your little on is probably just going to shed. They dont "stick" when they are shedding

How often do they shed? and i think he shed recently cuz when i got him there was some extra skin on his toes and sticking off his back. I got it off his toes with wet q tips and the one on his back i let come off.

I actually am new to cresties also. I have had my Chomper for a couple months now. He has shed 3 times. Just about a week after I got him, about a month later and he/she is just about done shedding for the third time. Has a little shed left on his feet but I plan on putting him in a dish with some warm papertowels for a few minutes to help get that off.

I would agree that a shed is likely if the little one isn't sticking. Shedding schedules will vary depending on age and feeding schedule. It's possible that the retained shed has been there for some time. No way of knowing, but I'd suggest you put a humid hide in the container to help get rid of the remaining shed. You don't want that shed to stay on the toes as it's possible to loose toes due to poor circulation. I would agree that a shed is likely if the little one isn't sticking.

How could i make a humid hide or how much they go for?

Hope I get this right if not Christie jump in and correct me. You can take sphagnum moss or vermiculli and just dampen it. You dont want it soaking wet. Place a small amount of this in the hide you have for your crestie. Is that right Christie?

cheapest/easiest humid hide: cut a hold in a small tupperware container--it maybe easiest to cut the hole in the lid. place damp papertowels in the container and replace the lid. mist the papertowels every few days to keep them moist and replace once a week or so to avoid mold.

young cresteds shed very often so mostly likely that's all that is going on. a lot of times they shed and you never even know it happened because they get the skin off so quickly.

Ok so do I put that Tupperware in the tank as the hide or just to keep it humid in the tank?

put the tupperware container in the tank as a hide for now. it may not be necessary in the future but since you noticed some retained shed it sounds like it may have been too dry in the past for complete shedding so your gecko may need the hide for the next shed or two. also mist a little extra than you normally would, but no so much that the enclosure doesn't completely dry after several hours-otherwise you get mold.
