humidity and temp

hi there another newby here so please be jentle lol
i've been keeping and breeding corn snakes for the last 7 years and decided to get a pair of royals too, i've set up there tank (4ft by 2ft by 20 inches) and daytime temp at hot end is 90F and cold is about 85F (Shold i increase this?) and not sure what to set up for night time temp, also as for humidity what should it be for day and night as i got a humidity control II and super fogger i've done all my research but when it comes to temp and humidity i've been told and read allot of conflicting information any input would be appreaciated

You should house the two royals in separate enclosures.


Temps should be 90-94 on the warm side, and the cool side should be 10 degrees less. A night drop is not necessary.

Ideal humidity is 50%-60%, but in the 40's will work fine, too....just be sure to bump it up some (or provide humid hides) during the shed cycle. You should not need a fogger to maintain proper humidity...using one can make things too wet and lead to scale rot or other health issues.

excuse my ignorance but why should you not keep two royal's together? and as for the fogger i have got a humidity control II which is a hydrostat so fogger will only come on when humidity drops below a set %
both my hydrostat and thermostat have day night facility so might as well use it

I believe that you should keep the temps constant, even though I do hear of people dropping for night times. You will probably get a better feeding response each week if the temps. do not fluctuate at all. Breeding may be another story, but for general purposes, I would keep a constant temp in the enclosure for the BP's.

Never ever house two Bp's together. They compete for the best spot and may go off feed because they are incredibly stressed in that situation. There are many threads on why not to house together. Check it out too much info to list here.

Just because they have them, does not mean you need to use them. Many people drop temps in winter to stimulate a breeding season and some people drop at night because it forces the snake to get out and look for a comfortable warm spot and be active.
