What is going on with Fed Ex?
I got this message today. All of a sudden do they not know I am approved? Anyone else have this happen to them?
Snake arrived today. I had to pick it up though. Are you an approved animal shipper through Fed Ex? They refused to deliver the package. I had to show them my approval papers to get the package.

Re: What is going on with Fed Ex?
Nope. Sent out a bunch of boxes this week with no problems. Just on the phone with my account rep this morning ... he called me to go over their holiday shipping schedules.

Re: What is going on with Fed Ex?
The part of this I don't understand is that Fed Ex came here and picked up the package, brought it to the sorting facility, sent it out to California, it arrived at the local hub, and AT THAT POINT, they refused to deliver it.
I don't think it was a matter of them not thinking I was approved since it went thru multiple points and ANYONE looking at the box would know it had a live ball python in it since that was marked on the outside. I really think it was due to someone at the hub refusing to touch a box with a snake in it.
I am awaiting a reply to find out why all of a sudden after shipping many, many animals (I have shipped 8 in the past 2 weeks alone and one went to a local Kinkos/Fed Ex for pickup by the buyer) that this problem occurred.
There needs to be more communication from Fed Ex to it's employees that live animal shipments can occur.

Steve,i totaly agree that fedex needs to inform the employees of what they do infact ship.Let me know if you need a couple phone numbers to get this straightened out.So where is the snake at now? If they sent it back to you i would demand that they ship it at no charge since its them who caused the problem.

She has the snake. They called her and said she had to come and pick it up if she wanted it since they were not going to deliver it.

Re: What is going on with Fed Ex?
Here is the history of the package from the Fed Ex website. Something happened once it arrived at Yuba City. That is where it stopped and the buyer was called (thankfully I had her number on the label) and said they needed to come down and pick it up because they would not deliver the box.

Aha they refused to deliver it because i bet the driver is scared of snakes. They just made up a excuse. This past summer i tried to ship Bobby a snake and he uses DHL so he had me use his account.I had shipped him numerous reptiles last year with no problems out of the hub where i dropped the boxes of at.Well i get a call telling me to come get my box at DHL.Long story short the sissies(spelling lol) in the back would not touch the box .Thats why they called me.Now how do i know this is what happened i know someone who works for DHL and they told me.Do you want this number i have? Fedex needs to inform the employees of what there jobs requires them to do or replace them.

Re: What is going on with Fed Ex?
I don't need a number (yet). I am attempting to get a hold of my rep.
I am almost positive the driver saw that the box had a live snake in it and that is why they would not deliver it. So much for marking the box with the contents. It would not have gotten all that way across the country with numerous people seeing and scanning the box if there was a problem with my account.
DHL has a waiver just like Fed Ex for reptiles. I used DHL for a few years before switching to Fed Ex. DHL was cheaper but I had a few packages get delivered a day late and they never made the morning delivery. Always ended up being noon or later so I switched.
