PetCo (As if this is a suprise)

So when I went out to get supplies for my new BP I stopped by PetCo to get some aspen and some small kittie litter pans to make into hideouts. Well I wanted to see what reptiles they had. They got a new shipment of corns in. Lil tiny buggers too. One was hanging on the edge of the waterbowl. And the funny thing is the tank they are in now, the WC BP's used to be in. I thought "Hmmm, I doubt they sterilized it?" Sure enough I took one glance at the one of the three corns there, and it had 2 mites right above its eye. They stuck out like a sore thumb since the corn was tiny and was red and white. Well I look at the other corns and the one to the side of the cage has mites on him as well. I walked around and saw an employee and I said "Dude? Your corns have mites. You know that right?" He looks in the tank and says "Oh. Yeah" ... And he walks away. I hung out to see if anyone would be coming out to clean the tank. Nope. I wasn't gonna make a huge scene but it's BS they don't care.

I know the petco by me the TINY baby corns are ALWAYS so thin looking. Also the BP's look like they have never eaten a meal before. It's sad! I hate having to go in there!

the thing is they probably make money that way, all the herp people see this and the only thing they can do is buy them and bring them back to good health.

well i went in to a petco once to get feeders before i breed my own and my freind was out. and they told me they don't sell feeders so i asked him what does he feed the snake that they had and he told me they never have them long enough to feed them since they only eat once a month. so i grab one of there care sheets and gave it to the guy and told him to read it. have yet to be back

Eew. I would chop them up verbally by saying how pathetic they were for having mites.. liken it to fleas on dogs.. make them feel two inches tall.

Same one here. They put 8-11 ball pythons in a tank, they all have either mites or incomplete sheds and the temeperature is at 73! (they show thier thermostats). They can barely take care of thier fish!

Re: PetCo (As if this is a suprise)

ive only ever been in one petco and that was while we were in Georgia, we went to look at the reptiles and I noticed they had a 10 gallon tank with a tort and a few aquatic turtles (pet shops are not allowed to sell turtles here so that got me confused as ive never seen a turtle for sale before) and a tank with a bunch of dead frogs with lizards and more turtles.

Another shop close to me only has 10 gallon tanks and try to fit as many reptiles in them as possible no matter the size. They also have a 30 gallon tank with a 4 foot burm, 2 3 foot red tails, and 3 3 foot ball pythons. Were there when they were feeding and watching these idiots watch standing there to watch them eat and say something like "I would get this snake just to wacth it eat"

Sorry for a long post, I get pretty heated when it comes to mistreating animals at pet shops
