    Unhappy RI Need vet NOW!!!

Problems after problems.... I only had the snake for a week!!! When I brought the snake she was in great shape.. But a couple days later I start seeing problems!!! First mites!!! I ordered PAM right away.. Now I hear poping sound sometimes when it breaths... But I see no signs of liquid comming from mouth or nose.. Is this RI? I searched the forum and some say it is and some say its not.. She eats fine and also acts fine doesn't seem slugish or anything... I just feed her last night and I turn the temp up a bit as everyone recommands..Im going to wait 48hrs If theres still poping sounds Im going to bring her to a vet... I live in Markham Ontario.. Can anyone recommand a vet? All I can find in my area are vets that treat everything IE dogs, birds, cats, reptiles, rodents... I want to find one that knows there stuff and spec on snakes...

    Please HELP...

No one can diagnose your snake over the internet. A popping sound is one of the early symptoms of an URI, but it could also be loose unshed skin stuck within your animals nasal passages ... since you don't yet have the experience to tell the two apart, you are very smart to take your animal to a vet.

    Re: RI Need vet NOW!!!

I did a quick search on a herp yahoo group I'm in and I've found this:

    Bonnie Beresford
    Heritage Veterinary Hospital
    200 Lorraine Ave, unit 7 Kitchener, Ontario N2B 3R3
    519-743-9924

Give that # a call and see if that vet is still working there. If she is... ask what kind of animals she looks at, etc.

I'd get the snake to the vet as soon as you can... the longer you wait, the worse it will get if it needs treatment.
