    to old to breed?

I just picked up an 10 year old female today and I wanted to know if she is to old to breed?

As the owner told me she has yet to breed her but put her into "cooling" for breeding. Sadly though (and good for me) she is not able to breed her due to some over spending so I ended up buying her.

I dont have a weight on her yet and will get that tomorrow when I get her back from the vet's office. I'm having a full work up done on her at the expence of the lady I bought her from. Really nice gal, she wanted me to know I was getting a good snake and a proven female.

Also when would be a good time to start breeding her if she is not to old? and that would be after her 3 weeks of setteling in and after 6 to 8 months of being keep away from the other snakes.

Congrats Jessie .In my opinion as if it was myself here would look to breeding her the next season. Not saying you could breed her and get some late eggs maybe. The age i am not sure on so hopefully Adam sees this and chimes in.

    Thanks Adam

As for breeding her next season I really have no choice.(ps?) she has to stay in the living room for about 8 months. LOL I just wanted to know if after the 8 months, when would be a good time to breed her?

Congrats Jessie! Hope she lay's a bunch of fertile eggs for ya! How big is she would you say? (length wise?)

We're definitely going to need pictures! On the breeding side...Correct me if i'm wrong but...I've heard that females have bred up to 20yrs of age? 20-22or 23? something like that... Anyways have fun with her!

    Re: to old to breed?

she is a good 5 feet max and is a big girl! not fat but very nicely built. She was bought 8 years ago from a reptile show, with plans of breeding, but a new human babycame along and stoped plans for breeding and she became a pet. Plans for breeding started again but over spending spoiled the project and the gal had to sell all of her snakes. all the rest were normal males, and I'm swamped with them so I just took the female.

I have been reading like crazy about breeding, temps, weights, sizes, amount of eggs, how many days untill what... and so on and so forth. but I'm having a hard time finding stuff on one on one breeding. (one male to one female.) I have a whole book (I made this book for myself, 162 pages worth) on breeding and still nothing. I'm now going to check here in this site and if I still cant find anything I will just have to ask about it.

    Re: to old to breed?

lol I guess i didnt put it in the right words... everything I'm reading is about breeding a bunch of males to a bunch of females. I want to know how many times should I breed the same male to the same female. everything talks about rotating males with in the female groups but it says nothing about when a male is placed back in with that female.

is it simular to most animals, as in, place the male in for 2 days untill they lock, wait untill they unlock and wait untill signs that the female is ovulating? (sp?) or every 3 or 4 days try and pair them again untill she rejects him?
