    Talking New Corns!!!

Hey everyone. I'm so excited!! Today my girlfriend and I bought our very first corn snakes!!! They're beautiful. We bought them at the reptile expo here in Winnipeg. They are from Hanney's Corns. Mine is a male amel, het sunglow, possible het bloodred, and maybe other possible hets, and my girlfriends is a female anery (type A), het hypo, and possibly other unknown hets. We are sooo excited. You can see the mommy and daddy to both on Hanney's website: http://hanneyscorns.tripod.com/id2.html
The father of mine is Sinbad and Calypso, both of which have very strong orange and red patterning. . . very little white. The father of Twilight (my girlfriends) is Aries and the mother is Ebony. Another sharp looking pair. We are sooo excited. Twilight is already showing a lot of intelligence. She's very calm. . . but very calculating. . . sometimes you can almost see the wheels turning in her head. Mine (who is still un-named) is a typical male. lol. . . he's very active. . . not skittish at all, but always on the go. They're first feeding is on thursday, and we're supposed to give them two pinkies each. They're getting ready to shed soon, so we'll see if they're hungry. I was really impressed. . . they were only $60 each. Were already thinking of offspring, and the possibility of snows. . . and maybe even some sunglows. All in all, it was a great day. I will have pics soon. . . but I need to let them chill out for a while first (2-3 days).

you should be guarenteed some snows. When amel is crossed with anery A all the babies are snow, and unless you have some suprize hets, you should have all snow's from the first generation out of those. After some linebreeding some of the other traits might show up, but id be suprized if you get anything but snows the first breeding.

    Re: New Corns!!!

Thanks everyone. . . I'm not sure how they're going to look fully mature. . . Twilight (anery) is showing a tiny hint of brown. . . we want her to stay a good strong black, but we'll have to wait and see. I still haven't come up with a name for my little guy yet. I was thinking Nacona which means wanderer in Commanche. It's a name out of one of my favorite books, and he fits it sooo well. . . he's always on the move when I have him out. Any suggestions?

I dont know what i was thinking there. To be a snow it has to have both copies of both trait. When those breed you would only have hets for amel and anery. The babies would have to be crossed to get snows, or one of the babies crossed to one of the parents, then one from that cross bred back to the other one. Sorry about that. So, unless one of them is het for a trait the other has you wont get anything but normals in the first generation.
