:new: Help! I want to get a bp but this would be my first...

Help! I want to get a bp but this would be my first, what are some things I should consider before buying my first bp? I talked to the pet store and they told me a few things but want to know more before buying one. Tank size? I dont want to have buy one and then turn around and get one a year later cuz he grew out of it, so what would the appropriate size be? What should the temp/humitidy be? What type of bedding or carpet would you suggest? I know there are plenty of sites and books out there, but I also like to know from you the ones who know first hand! Any help would be great, I know I left alot out but thats all I can think of for now! Hope to hear from you!

    Here's an excellent caresheet:

To be specific on a few of your questions...
your bp needs a hot and cool side. the hot side should be ~93 and your cool side should be ~83. Your humidity should be between 50-60 and a little higher when its in shed.

Are you interested in buying something that will be visually appealing? If so, I would go with a cage from ReptileBasics.com

While it is on the pricey side, It holds heat and humidity much better than an aquarium will.

If you don't care too much about the overall looks, try out a simple rubbermaid tub..they're super cheap, super easy to clean, and when your ball python grows out of it, you can simply spend 7 dollars on a newer bigger one.

A lot of people use newspaper. a lot use Aspen beding, or reptibark...

^^ Yep, that is the best place to look. That is the source for most of the answers on ball pythons!
