    Temperature sex determination?

Does anyone know if this applies to snakes (bp's in particular?), i know turtles, crocodillians, and some types of geckos.

anyone know?? from personal experience or otherwise??

In ball pythons sex is determined by the females Y chromosome ... not temperature ... this is a fact and has nothing to do with anyones experience.

Yeah, Adam hit it on the head. Sex is determined by chromosomes in all snakes, none of them exhibit TDS (temp. dependant sex).

I know with human genetics that males determine sex, and there may be some way to subtly influence the outcome. Specifically the sperm carrying the genetic code for a male were faster but lived for shorter periods, where the other wasn't as quick but could live a bit longer. Have there been any studies on this? Of course none of this is a guarantee. I'm just curious, but I guess until they have one of those EPT ovulation kits for the girls it would be a bit pointless.

Have you noticed that some females are more prone to produce more of one sex than the other?

Not in any of the records that I've kept over the last 10 years ... a female bred for successive years may weigh heavy towards one sex or the other in a specific year, but overall it's always right around 50/50.
