Personally, I have only ran into one or two mean pits, and probably a hundred kind ones. I am not in to pits that much, but I don't think that they deserve the reps they have. Their rise into popularity as the mean dog to persecute has picked up as drug dealers have become more and more interested in them. Pits are one of the most loyal dogs and will always defend their owner with their life if necessary, and that is why they are so appealing for drug dealers to guard their stashes. I think this association is one of the big reasons people began hating them in the first place, and now the mention of their name evokes a negative response in most people...
