    Hog Island breeder in Canada

Hey there, I'm looking to acquire a well started CB male hog island. I want to purchases it locally but never trusted pet stores. Is there any breeder in Canada or someone who is willing to ship that I can pick one up for a resonable price??

    Try this website: http://www.ssnakess.com/

It's mostly Canadians and if I recall correctly, a breeder that goes by the ID Stav works with some nice Hog Island Boas over there.

That site is dead, I mean it still works, but nobody goes there...ReptilesCanada.com is the big site for Canadians now....Stav T does produce some amazing Boas of all sorts, but he's located in Montreal.

threezero...I dont know of anyone working with Hogg's directly in Vancouver, but I do know some on the west coast, alot in the Ontario/Quebec region....how come it needs to be local? shipping isnt a big deal really..how much are you looking to spend?

It's been a couple years since I spent any real time there. Jeff Favelle had some real nice JCP's and Stav had some nice boas along with a few others on that site. I just checked it out and it is dead and they changed the format again...oh well.

Re: Hog Island breeder in Canada

o it does have to be local, I do not mind shipping its just that all my searchs yield american sites which do not ship to Canada. I'm looking to spend 100-200 CAD for a male, is that a realistic number?

I did all my research on this specie however i havn't seen one in person so I really cant judge how big it is. Would a 10 gallon tanks be sufficient for a baby? I plan to buy a boaphile cage but it's a little out of my budget right now with the snake + cage. I have my 10 gallon tank setup for my previous ball python and I would like to use that for now for the future baby is that possible??? thanks alot guys

Re: Hog Island breeder in Canada

A 10gln would be fine for a few months depending how old/large it is now. A Boaphile won't be needed for 2-3yrs and a male Hog can live happily it's adult life in a Iris CB-110 tub that cost $12.00.

I would skip the tank and keep him in a sterilte 12qt tub $2.00, then as he grows move him to a 27qt $3.00 and then as needed a Iris CB-110 = $12.00.

But, ultimately it's your snake. You can go all out and set it up as elaborate or as simple as you desire. My only suggestion is that if it's a baby, keep it simple for the 1st year. No need for a large set up, in fact a small space would be better for it to feel secure.

    Good Luck..

i got my hog island from henry pourin. it turned out mine is a cross but that doesn't mean henry has crosses now. i would contact him. just make sure you treat your snake for mites as mine had mites when i got him earlier this year.

he's in mission. (40 minutes past maple ridge)

    http://www.a1pythons.com/index.htm

it doesn't matter what his website says for availability... he often doesn't update his site.

feel free to tell him aleesha sent you... i've purchased my ball and my hog island from him.

by the way... expect to pay $300-$400 for a hog - canadian prices are quite different than u.s. prices.
    in light, Aleesha

You have 1440 minutes a day... how are you going to spend yours?

Re: Hog Island breeder in Canada

I read your thread about ur supposed "pure" hoggie. Few months ago I was interested in purchasing a ball from henry too however he stop responding to my email a few days before I was suppose to meet up with him and that was that...

I believe he is a good breeder but his lack of communication and the fact that he sold you a cross makes me think twice about considering him again.

I did try a rubbermaid setup but maybe because I don't have flexwatt and am only using exoterra UTH, I can not bring the temp up. I had better luck with the tanks setup up where I tape 3/4 of the top of the tank. I think I'll just use this setup until I need to upgrade than I'll order in sum flexwatt do the tub setup.

I do not not mind paying 300-400 for a pure hoggie, so if you guys know any other breeder, do share : )
