Question So off topic - CAT LITTER....

Well yeah. My topic is on cat litter. Odd, yes I know!

As some of you know, I rescued a stray kitten the other day.

I know a lot of you have cats, so I'm asking for your opinions on brands & kinds please.

What brand / kind of cat litter do you use?
    Do you like it?

I got this "ExquisiCat: Extra Strength, Scoop, Fresh Scent" cat litter from Petsmart....

I think it smells like oranges... really not a pleasant smell for cat litter IMO. It does clump up great though! Also I find it tends to reek after my kitten uses the litter box, -pee or poo-. To the point it's about unbearable! All in all, I will not use this brand of litter again!

Cool, I'll guess I'll just have to try out a few different brands of litters and see what I like the most.

Re: So off topic - CAT LITTER....

i don't like having 'sand' on the floor... and the cats and kittens always seem to get it everywhere LOL which is why i like the larger pellets of yesterdays news.

    http://www.yesterdaysnews.com/getPag...6982&T=3566217

i know they make them out of pine and cedar too (different brand names) but i prefer not to have those woods in the house with all my critters. don't know if it would harm them... but i just prefer to be safe than sorry... and i love the recycling behind yesterdays news.

    hence... my name! recycling goddess!

I use whatever is cheapest, and change it often. I alos refuse to pay out the nose for a covered cat bin. Take a rubbermaid tote and cut a door in it, it's MUCH easier to carry in or out to empty, the litter doesn't find it's way through crevices, much sturdier, and cheap.

Re: So off topic - CAT LITTER....

Personally I use the clumping litter (think the brand I have now is Fresh Step.) I know many people who dislike it because it is not naturalistic, etc. But I use it because I don't have much time to clean the box; if it goes 2 days or so and i don't get to it every day, I never notice any odors from it. It makes things very tidy It is not that dusty; it is when you first pour it in, but after that I never have issues with it; and my boyfriend sneezes at every little thing, but not this.
