    New Cage Help!!!

Hello I have a 3 ft 2yr old female normal ball python, I am looking at buying her a 48x24x14 cage I found one on percision caging but it has a bulb inside the tank, ive read that the snake can burn themselves if there is a light or heat source exposed in the tank, does anyone have any ideas on where I can purchace a custom cage?? I am looking at spending no more than $300.
    THANK YOU

A lot of people use that style of heat. If you do some research on it you'll find how to properly use that style.

Me personally, I use belly heat. Some great cages can be found from Neil Golli.
I believe his stuff is being sold on http://www.reptilebasics.com

    Good luck

    Here ya go...

    http://www.reptilebasics.com/store/home.php?cat=257

even the more expensive one ($249.99) is within your budget, even after shipping...It's prewired for belly heat and ready to plug in...

ooh yeah you'll need a thermostat too. that may run you anywhere from 30-150

    well normally a 30 gallon tank is 3x1x1 (i think...the last 2 i had were)

3x2 would probably work for you.

Yeah, I say go for the 3x2, and then you can spend a little extra money on a good thermostat. a Tstat is something you do not want to skimp out on.

Have you ever considered building a tank? If you have access to a table saw, it is actually really cheap to do. I just built a 38x17x13(LWH) enclosure out of MDF and before heating and a dimmer(temporary), it only cost me like $45. I put 2 hinged doors that open down with plexiglass inside of a wooden frame for the doors. Slide bolts hold it locked.
    lots of snakes

http://precisioncaging.com/caging.htm this is what I was looking at earlier today, Called the man and asked a few questions, he answered them all and said even if i dont buy from him if i ever have questions to give him a call that he would be glad to help, I was looking at the cage on the very bottom right when you scroll down. there are just so many cages ive seen over the past few days, and being new to the hobby dont know which would be best.

    Re: New Cage Help!!!

To tell you the truth all you need is a drill gun and a measuring tape....we also did ours out of MDF but since we dont have a saw, we had them cut it all at Home Depot for free!!! You can check out the pictures here

It's not painted yet but is housing snakes just fine, with the supplies, heat tape, thermostats, tubs etc. It breaks down to alot cheaper then buying 5 seperate homes for each snake we have. So soon we will have 5 racked and one in the T3...give animal plastics a call..there great and walk through everything with you.
