    my snake made a burrow!

yeah my snake has put his head to use and made a burrow.recently i noticed he was taking his head and poking at one area of dirt and making depressions(water bowl.). second he moved to the next corner and did the exact same thing. i did nt bother him for the rest of day. finally when i woke this morning to noticed his water bowl was moving up and down he was under it sleeping with now an entrance and exit. also he came to drank water and then went back under it. he also a baby but seems to be intelligent. has anybody snake ever done this.

how small are your two hides? sometimes when their hides aren't a tight enough fit (they like them to be small) then they'll make a small hide for themselves.

    sorry i'm not adam though.

No, that can't be possible. Ball Python's don't burrow at all.

Thank you for sharing this story and semi proving my point that ball pythons can dig and make burrows.

Re: my snake made a burrow!

To be fair, all he said was that his bp was making indentations in his substrate, although he did describe it as a "burrow". I thought this problem had been resolved about an age ago. Never mind.

EDIT: In my honest opinion, this doesn't prove anything. Nobody disputed that bps can shift their substrate around and make dents in it etc.

Exactly. Just because his BP went underneath its waterbowl doesn't mean it burrowed.

Re: my snake made a burrow!

Definition of burrow: a hole or excavation in the ground made by an animal (as a rabbit) for shelter and habitation.

And with that said, I'm finished with this argument...

Stuffing yourself under a bowl does not count as an excavation in the ground. They mean actual tunnels, etc. through hard dirt (moles are an example of this).

Ball pythons may dig into the substrate and make a "burrow," in now way does that come close to overturning scientific classification of ball pythons that do not list them as a "burrowing" creature. Just wanted to bring the difference to light.

I invite you to go over to Africa and do a study on ball pythons in the wild to test your hypothesis. Rock on!
