    They're eating!

My first litter is 3 weeks old today and are eating solid food and drinking water (but also still feeding from the mother). Very cute and growing on me daily.

How cute! Those hoodeds are just adorable. I euthanized my first litter last week. That sucked big time.

Have you started to feed them off yet, or do you need to go get some more caging?

    Re: They're eating!

It's going to be a bit rough the first time Jamie. Just try to remember you raised these rats for a reason and you've given them a very high quality life while they existed in your care. They are rodents and are fulfilling their natural role as prey for your snakes...you are just really a small step in a process that is far older than our human emotions of attachment. It's not easy at first but personally I take great pride in providing these superior feeders. I know our snakes eat very well and I know that the rats in our colony are living a life far above what most rats experience so that gives me all the peace of mind I need. I also spoil our permanent breeder collection, giving them names and enjoying them so that I don't let myself get too attached to their offspring.
    ~~Joanna~~
